Toastmasters offers an INVITING and ECONOMICAL educational choice for those wanting to increase their confidence with improved communication and leadership skills.
We are a local non-profit club that meets weekly to practice public speaking – using proven techniques from Toastmasters manuals. Assignments include 5-7 minute Competent Communicator projects, constructive Evaluations, and 1-2min short presentations “off the top of your head” called Table Topics. We also enjoy voting for our favourite speeches of the evening, and recognizing each others’ achievements. There really is no end to the experience you can gain! (and entertainment factor!!)
On September 7th, 2015, the local Toastmasters Cowichan 950 club moved to this location to accommodate club growth and welcome newcomers.
Will Burrows, past Club President and current Area 10 Governor:
“After celebrating 50 years in the valley, Cowichan Toastmasters is seeing tremendous growth necessitating this move to a larger venue. Our members continue to grow, both personally and professionally, developing their communication and leadership skills in order to reach their goals.”
Why join Toastmasters?
Everyone is a leader at some time in their life. We lead at work – sharing knowledge with management, co-workers and clients. We lead at home, supporting and guiding young family members, and working with partners in shared commitment. We lead in our friendships and community relationships. Toastmasters strengthens these leadership abilities through regular meeting roles and mentorship. Elective club Executive roles provide the opportunity to grow personally and professionally.
